Hi, my name is Briana...
...I'm a recent graduate of UC Berkeley in the midst of transitioning into the "real world," and this is my blog, Fueled By New! Besides being an anagram of my initials, FBN is my experiment in living a life fueled by new experiences. Whether exploring an unknown place or following an unknown recipe, listening to a new song or wearing a new outfit, I promise to keep you posted on my journey. I hope FBN will motivate me (and you!) to seek out all things new.
Why I Focus on the New
I've always had a hard time moving beyond the old and embracing the new. Maybe it's the comfort. Maybe it's laziness. Maybe it's fear. Whatever the reason, it's surprisingly easy for me to get stuck in a rut. This is especially true in times of transition, when life seems more uncertain and old habits can seem more reassuring. Since I recently graduated from college, I need a little push to stop myself from withdrawing into routine. Trying new things provides me with that push, and it encourages me to have an open mind and to live life to the fullest. That's why I focus on the new.
Because I have limited resources (time, energy, money), I can't promise that what I write about will be as exciting as the adventures that you might expect or the ones that I might envision. More likely, the new things I'll write about here will be simple, small and do-able. Things like rearranging old pieces in my wardrobe to make a new outfit or sharing a new song I discovered, like trying a new restaurant or going to a community event. For me, and for this blog, it's less about what it is I'm doing and more about the process of getting out of my comfort zone and trying something new. And I promise I will be as forthcoming and as entertaining as possible when I share that process with you. Enjoy!
